QCI is an independent, autonomous and not-for-prot organisation under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It was set up in 1997 by the Government of India, ASSOCHAM, CII and FICCI as the National Accreditation Body to lead a quality movement in the country. The Council plays a pivotal role in propagating, adopting and adhering to quality standards in all important spheres of activities including education, healthcare, governance, infrastructure and other areas that bear signicance in improving the quality of life and well-being of citizens.
Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) was launched on 2nd October 2014 by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. It is being implemented across the nation to promote hygiene, waste management and sanitation. SBM is India's largest cleanliness drive aimed at encouraging a multi-stakeholder particpatory approach to achieve the goal of Clean India by 2019.
To achieve the objectives of the Mission, MoHUA has undertaken various steps under Swachh Bharat Mission. In continuation to the efforts, it engaged Quality Council of India to conduct a third-party inspection of Community Toilets and Public Toilets (CT/ PT) in New Delhi on cleanliness and usability parameters.Click here to view full content
